The Line Saudi Arabia

What if every city in the world was built in a straight line? Saudi Arabia unveiled plans for a future city called “The Line”. The plan says it can house 9 million people in just 1 square miles. The project in Neom will run on 100% renewable energy and create zero carbon emissions.

The Line Saudi Arabia is a proposed 200-meter wide (656 feet) building acting as a vertical city, designed to sit 500 meters (1,640 feet) above sea level. It will span 34 square kilometers (13 square miles), according to the press release. This futuristic city is to be built across deserts and mountains and is placed only 6 hours travel away from 40% of the world

The vision of Saudi Arabia’s leaders is to create a fully sustainable environmentally-friendly city with an equitable view of nature. Residents will be able to run all errands within a 5minute walk. There will be no cars or road. A high speed rail will be able to carry people from one to other in 20 minutes and the projects is expected cost hundreds of billions of dollars with 9 million residents.

So The Line Saudi Arabia’s new mirrored city looks like a huge dystopian wall in the desert and you thought the Dublin whitewater rafting idea was draft. All energy and water supplies will be 100% renewable and feature a year-round temperate micro-climate with natural ventilation. They also give us a glimpse as to what New York would look like if they implemented the same infrastructure.

Designs unveiled for one-building city stretching 106 miles

Finally Neom said that “THE LINE will tackle the challenges facing humanity in urban life today and will shine a light on alternative ways to live”. So would you like to live here? Comment below.
